Hi, everyone

I have to transfer to portland, oregon for next 10 months because of the job assignment. It seems that I can apply for Citizenship in portland early next year. But my wife is currently an F-1 student who would prefer to keep her california residency to save on public school tuition. my plan is to apply for citizenship in portland and help her apply for GC in california. is it a viable route?

BTW, N-400 processing date in portland is about 3 months ahead of san jose office.
 
You will be in Portland for 10 months and then moving back to California?

Well you have to wait three months to establish residency...

After that, you have to finish up interview and oath in 7 months - what is the current timeline for Portland (i.e. how many months from start to finish)?

This would be your basic guideline for deciding whether Portland is a viable option or not...

I also don't know if you can apply in California while you live in Portland - I would guess you would need to apply after you move back to California in case applying from Portland is not feasible...I would check with others on this as I am not completely sure...
