where to check paper citations

If you do not have access to Web of Science, SciFinder, etc, you can get at least a partial list of papers citing your paper at scholar.google.com

Google scholar BETA is an excellent source IMO (at least in my case).
It actually finds much more citations than what I could find from
other sources. Only problem is that it sometimes does not point to
official prints of papers that cited your paper.

You'll need to submit offical prints or copies of research papers
that cited your work. Google scholar instantly trippled the # of
citations I got from other sources initially but the entries had some
papers that are not truely internationally circulated or their
official copies were not easily obtainable...
(But makes you feel not bad knowing your work is being cited
by stangers in very obscure places in the world... )

If you're in CS or EE related area, you probably know you have
ACM portals and IEEE Xplorer which has all the official copies electronically...

Good luck,

It appears to me that Google scholar does not do a good job. It only gives less than half of the citations you can find in Sci Citation Index. For examples, for a paper I published last year, google only gives me 5 citations, whereas SCI index returns 14. Big Difference!!!

site

http://isiwebofknowledge.com

This is the standard website which people use. It gives you accurate information. You might need subscription for it. I mostly used in our University which has subscription so it automatically goes through.

Good lawyers also have access to it but they will charge you hundreds of dollars. So you can either get subscription or ask one of your friends who happens to work at big universities (Like Harvard) if they can do it. If you send the persons name (I assume you want to check your own work) to Harvard Medical School library (Countway library) then will do for a fee. It gives you report about any indvidual's work (citation per article and total citations for all of your work). Hope it will help.

If your institute/univ doesnt have a subscription to ISI (not the Pakistani one) web of science , which I would find hard to believe, please PM me your particulars (full name, papers published, address of univs from where published) and I can do the search for u as I get some time over the week. I wont promise same day return but 2-3 days.
