Do not give any credit to that date. This issue was extensively explained in other discussions in this same forum, please check them.
The date 6/2/98 has been reported for years and hasn\'t moved since 1998. It is totally useless, because it only represents the date of applications that were filed at NSC and are pending of initial adjudication, but doesn\'t take into account all the applications filed at local INS offices prior to that date, that are also pending of initial processing.
The best reference available to know what applications are being processed, is the "cut-off" date reported by NSC from time to time. Last "cut-off" date reported was January 16, 1998. Now, that the 10,000 quota has been approved for FY 2002, we are expecting from the INS a new "cut-off" date to be announced, hopefully sometime before the end of the year.
