Where can one go from a J1 Visa

Hi
My wife has a J1 visa(Doctorate in Microbiology) , I am a green card holder. What options do we have so she can continue staying in this country in case her J1 visa expires? We are looking for potential jobs that will help renew her J1 visa, but in case that does not happen, I need to know of other options. I've heard of V class visa, M class visa etc but I've also heard of very specific considerations for those to become viable options

- does she have a foreign residency requirement on her J1 ?
- how long do you have your green-card ?
