Where's the 100s upon 100s of approvals? If these were processed and queued up before just waiting for FBI stamp of clearance, whey aren't they released in drowes?

I think INS just had an extended Thanksgiving/XMas vacation and they are just picking up from where they left on Nov-15.

or probably

they are trying to prove that they are not sleeping..with a small spur of approvals inbetween..:(

Well .. the article says " ... the INS had resumed adjudication of 485 cases .. "
Adjudication does not automatically mean approval. It does however include, among other things, issuing RFEs and transferring cases to local INS offices...

So, I guess what is going on now is the INS has started reviewing (a.k.a "adjudicating") cases whose names have been cleared by the FBI.
Think of these days as the warming-up period for the adjudication officers :)

There was a posting by dec11th

yesterday that said that they were having problems and approvals would cease in the near future.

I didnt want to believe and tried to have a positive attitude but thats too diffcult :(

I dont know what they 'adjudicated' during the last 6 weeks.

This is getting ridiculous. Is there no end to this process???

Optimistic to see approval flood by Friday!

I thought that the INS had officially said that this was not a 'freeze' and that they were still working on I-485 cases but that they just could not approve them until the FBI check was done. In other words, the INS should by now be working on January 2002 cases (or at least December 2001). All the other cases should be already reviewed and just sitting in a bin waiting for the FBI check. The FBI check is now possible (but they still have to enter all those names to check them). After that FBI check done it will still take a few days for the INS to prepare the approval notice, mail it, and update the online system. To make a long story short, I hope that the flood gates will open this Friday!!

I hope you are right Helge

Either that or INS is just beginnig to open files now and there was no "offline processing" as initially claimed.

The lack of any RFEs issued in significant numbers during this time is definitely a red flag. If October, November, December were already processed "offline" then Rupnet should have shown %15 of those months applications in the RFEd stage.

I think we have seen a few approvals in the past few days, I think we will keep seeing a few approvals each day till the group 3 registration ends (Jan 13th and Feb 21st) unless of course they add new groups.

They have new tasks and the same resources as before, I was reading on shusterman's web site (one man's odessy) he has a mention of some nice lady being sent from some other department to help with the detainees.

so hold your breath coz you will be under water till feb 21st (atleast)

I think they'll approve lot (I really mean LOT) of cases this week. Now you'll ask why ? Why not. I can give hundred reasons, like they haven't approved any case for last two months and blah blah ..... :D :D :D
Just kidding guys. (We all know how INS works) So Have fun, enjoy your life as is.

Hope we all get approved today. Now thats day dreaming. Isn't It.:p

Good luck to all of us.

I am still Optimistic...

...to see flood of approvals by end of this week or end of next week.

If not, then we need to assume that "INS lied about I-485 freeze" and there was a freeze on I-485 adjudication NOT just on I-485 approval decision.

Stop guessing

I have stopped guessing what INS could be doing long before. Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope. That's the only thing I can think of to do at this time.:(
