When to start working for future employer

Hi,

I am currently working for company A on H1. Company B has filed a green card for me for future empolyment. Now that the dates have become current, in theory, my 485 could be approved any day.

My question - If I do get 485 approved, when do I have to legally start working for company B. The reason I ask this is becuase I have to give a notice of 3 weeks before I quit from company A.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Tony

Imagine the following senario: 485 approved, GC arrives at your home. You would then be a Permament Resident and free to work for ANY employer. If you chose to work for company C, then the sponsor, company B, would be upset and would probably notify the USCIS that you did not have permanent employment with them as the I-140 petition had indicated you would. As such USCIS would investigate and would probably withdraw your GC.
The purpose of the above example was to explain that your start date at company B is whenever they want you to start or else they might notify USCIS. There is no rule.

Need some help

I went through Consular Processing In Mumbai successfully on 5th June 2007, entered the US back with the 6 month I-551 Immigrant Visa Stamp. I have a few questions

a) How do I track the physical green card arrival ( any websites etc online??)
b) When in Mumbai at the consulate they signed a undertaking that this stamp is specific to the employer and I will lose it if I change my employer or lose my job. Is this valid even after I get my physical GC or only till the time I get my physical GC.

Please help
