When to request for FBI clearance

Folks,
I just received my file#
Generally by when do the immigration folks request for the FBI certificate? To avoid delays I guess it makes sense to have the certificate(s) ready. But then again, I dont want to request for them too early

get ur fingerprints done before they ll send you a letter asking for the same

anyhow they ll take more than 6 months to get back ( nowadays )

but get ready

Appreciate the quick response. One more question :)
For how long will the FBI clearance/certificate be valid? 6 months? So I guess I can apply for the certificate after say 4 months?
