When to do Medicals ?

Hi,

An applicant filed an I-485, but left the company that sponsored the application. Shortly after filling, INS requested finger printing, which he completed.

Now, his lawyer has asked him to undergoe medicals on his own accord, even though INS has not asked him to do it. He has done the meds and keeping the results now.. does this seem right ?

secondly, at what point during the AOS process does an applicant need to provide employment verification (or letter from employer) - can it be provided after the 485 if submitted ? My understanding is that employment verification information is submitted at the time of 485 filing ?

Hi Noela,

My understanding is, THE MEDICAL TEST RESULTS MUST BE SUBMITTED ALONG WITH THE I-485 APPLICATION. I think that your friend's attorney didn't include the medical test results along with the I-485. My suggestion would be to wait till INS sends an RFE on the medical tests, otherwise do as per the attorney's advise. May be there should be a way to add the additional documents to the pending I-485 application.


One should have a valid job offer during the adjustment of status (I-485). I mean the applicant must have a job offer whiling filing for I-485.
