When to apply SSN?

My I-140 just got approved (dec 6, 2004) and my family and I applied for I-485/765/131 a week later. When can my husband (I am the primary applicant) apply for SSN and when can he start working? After I-485/I-765 receipt or after the EAD approval? Can I apply also SSN for my 8 yo kid by just giving the I-485 receipt notice?

Please, anybody's help is welcome! Thank you so much!

After EAD approval you can apply for SSN and he can start working.
