When to apply? Moving to a different state in 3 months

A friend of mine, who is eligible to apply for N-400, might need to move to a different state in about 3 months. He's thinking that he will apply for N-400 right now. He might have to fly back for the interview and/or the oath ceremony.

Anything that he should watch out for -- from the perspective of the N-400 process?

He can either wait 6 months or take a chance and file now.

6 months: He can file from the new state / DO 3 months after he moves. So that's 6 months.

Now: Many cases are getting approved in 90 days or less. The issue is what happens if his file is slow ... it would mean some hassle. Ideally, the file is supposed to be transferred to your new DO if you move. Check the DO timings ... if they are processing fast, and offer same day oath, then there is a good chance he will get done before he moves.
