I got my labor cert. cleared this Sept. For some reason, I didn't file 140 immediately. I heard that there isn't a deadline for filing 140 after labor is cleared, is it? If so, can I file 140 next month since my lawyer only have time till then. Any comment is appreciated. Will that be too late?

I am not sure if the "whenever you want" situation is correct. A colleague of mine was in a similar situation and he was told that there is a validity period of 9 month or so, after which additional explanation is demanded by USCIS in the form of an RFE when processing 140.

nervewreck, As of today there is no such rule as you mentioned, USCIS can alway issue RFE for any explaination, One friend of mine filed I-140 after over 18 month from the date LC was certified and got approved without any issue, his I-140 was delayed by his manager.
