When should EAD renewal be filed

Hi ,

I got the EAD in last week of June/07 based on future employment based I-485 filing. I haven't started working for the future employer yet.
Plan to work for future employer in December/Jan timeframe using the EAD.

When should i file for EAD renewal ?

6 months in advance as per uscis.gov
 
For EAD extension, is the I-765 needs to be filed or a different form ?

Do you recommend using lawyer for filing EAD extension or self file should be ok ?

If you are rich, then filling through lawyer is good or else self file. It's as simple as any filling can get for immigration purpose. Check the EAD and AP threads, there are step by step instructions on how/what to do. I did it 3 times so far and will be doing few dozen times again :D
 
Do it yourself :) It's easy and will save you money too.
The forms have self-explanatory instructions.
AP can be filed online as well. For EADs applied online you may have to go to your
local office for photo. So I have been e-filing AP for last 3 years and
mail-filing EAD renewals myself.
 
Thanks gcckar for very valueable input ! Now i recollect reading somewhere on this forum that online filing of EAD is not preffered by many experienced folks !

Thanks once again ! I am going through the I-765 and I-131 filing instructions at USCIS website.

Form I-131 also requires two photographs, with eFiling of I-131 , are you going to USCIS local office for photographs ?

For e-filed 131 you need to send in the photographs with the supporting docs. No need to go to the local office.

Wiered but true -
e-Filling takes longer to get approval and requires all the same documents to be mailed as the paper file. I explicitly remember my friend and I filling same day but I did e-file and he sent out paper file. He had approval in 2-3 weeks and I had to wait 2.5 months for approval. Next time, I learned and filed paper file with all documents and had approval in 3 weeks :)
