when it is appropriate to approach Senator/ Congressman?

I was wondering at what stage it will be appropraite to approach senator/ congressman for I485 processing:
1. When the number of days as mentione dby INS are pased for the I485 pending.
2. Any time after 1-2 years I485 pedning?
any suggestion or experience please?

30 days after current processing date

My guess is only if 30 days have gone after the posted pricessing date for the respective service centers. I think but for a few exceptions Senators always come back saying USCIS informed them that they are only processing 09/01 blah blah.

Anyway unless you know if your Senator does so, its worth a try.
