When is Immigrant Visa issued ?

Hello folks,

I'm planning my trip to mumbai for the CP intervew (to be held on Sept 19th). I was told that these days the visa "may" not be issued on the same day. If so, any idea how long do they take to issue the visa if all goes well ?. Is it ok to leave 2 week buffer before booking the return tix ?

Generally if the GC is approved then the passport with all sealed gc approval papers are issued the same day (evening for that matter). In some cases where where it needs to be mailed, it takes about 3-4 days to reach.

Atleast as of last month, i know someone who resides in bbay and got his cp done from bbay, got his passport and everything the same evening around 4pm.

But as always it is good to keep a 2 week buffer. It is good to provide for contingency!
