when is good time to graduate spring or summer?

hi guys,

iam a full time student. iam planning to graduate on spring 2008 but some friends
are suggesting to graduate on summer 2008..which is the best time to graduate may or august? i heard this yr h1b quota is over in the first day itself.. is it true in the case of f1 to h1 too? is it possible to get h1b if i apply in june or july next year?

Need suggestions.. plz help..:) :)
 
What worked pretty well for me and my husband was: he graduated in September (2004). Started the OPT from October 31st 2004. He got his job in April 2005, applied for H1B in April (when the quota was open), the H1B started from October 2005. I did the same, just one year behind. You cannot apply for H1B in July, not with the way the quota ends on the first day. Ideally, you can start working in November / December, get visa in April (valid from October) and continue with no interruption a little stress. For the quota does not matter whether you were on F1 before or not (if you have masters, the quota lasts a little bit longer). Also, if you get a job in a university, then your H1 is quota exempt, but this is completely different story.
