When is best time to file my I-485?

I got my I-140 approved last months, since my passport had valid
H1B1 stamped 2 weeks ago, I will use it to enter US after
I come back from my vacation, My question is:

1. When is best time to file my I-485?
        a. Before I leave for vacation.
        b. During my vacation time outside of US.
        c. After I come back from vacation.

2. Should I apply for AP or just use H1B1 visa to enter US?

3. Do applicant has to stay in US when filing I-485?

# as long as you have valid H1 with multiple entry..no need of AP
# you dont need to be in US during 485...
# If you have enough time before vacation , file 485 and EAD (just
  in case). Or you can come back and file 485.
 But have docs like birth certf/affidavits
                    medical examination (takes ~2wks)
                    IRS docs and other docs ready.
