when is an RFE initiated ?

Hi all,

My receipt date for 485 is mid july 2002 and i was fingerprinted in Sep 2002. I've heard that an RFE is issued if it takes too long, and that an RFE can cause a lot of problems/delay.
Any clarifications or details on this ?

RFE=request for evidence

Can be generated for anything BCIS wants to be sure about...from birth cert, to employment, salary, etc.

It has nothing to do with FP.

FP expires in 15 months. If that happens before they get to your case, they will re-issue FP notice.
