When do I go for medical

Hi - my employer just filed I-140 and as my priority date just became current this month I want to file I-485 quick - do I have to file the medical with the I-485 or do I wait to be told to go for a medical? Thanks!

You must file the medical report with the I-485, as it is listed as required initial evidence. Your I-485 can be rejected without it, especially with the recent advisory changes. So make your appointment as soon as you can.

Medicals can be a drag and a delay. Do not delay. Make an appointment immediately.
Be sure to take all immunization records with you to expediate things. If it is not documented, it did not happen. Having to have blood work (and wait for results), as well as TB test can delay things.
Since the flood gates are now open, time is of the essence to apply.
Important note - medicals are only valid for one year, so will you be filing within a year? The medical thing is also a gamble..

Thanks for your advise guys - I have an appointment for a medical - 3rd July, am sending my paperwork the next day!

While it's a very patriotic idea to file your case on the 4th of July :) , you will need at least 3 days after your medical appointment, before they can make a judgment on your TB skin test. If it comes back positive (and it often does), then it would take a few more days for you to do a chest X-ray and get cleared. Take that into consideration. Good luck!

can you believe my employer said today - "since the dates have become current, its now the company's policy not to file for 485 if your I-140 is pending, and we will not do premium processing of I-140" ---- not sure how can they say like that....

Well, point out to them that the dates are current in JULY. It's anybody's guess what's going to happen in August. I doubt that all EB cases will stay current always, from here on out.
