When can you start working?

Hi there - my USC wife and I have our interview in Los Angeles at the beginning of July. If it all goes well, how long do I have to wait after that before I can start working? My EAD still hasn't turned up (been around 70 days since application) and I've been offered work. I didn't want to take it until I know I've been approved, and the potential employers want to know when that's likely to be. I rang the National Customer Service Center this morning but the woman was dreadfuly rude and unhelpful. So... if all goes well at the interview, do you still have to wait? And I'm guessing this would be a very bad time to just take the work anyway, right? - Thanks...

If your EAD does not arrived by the time of your interview then you must wait for the outcome of your interview.

If everthing goes well and you get approved, you must wait until your actual card get on the mail can be from 2 weeks after the interview approval, with that you need to get a SSN if you do not have one.

When you get hired, the employer must fill out along with you the form I-9 which is employment eligibility verification in where you must proof you are authorize to work in the US.
