When can we initiate an Inquiry ?

Per my i485 receipt notice my 540 days will be due on 03/26/2004.

Can i initiate an inquiry after this date ? if yes than is it better to do it via a lawyer or congressman or who ?

Forget about 540 days printed on the back of the receipt notice.
If you call the 800 number, they can initiate a referal only if your RD is 30 days (or more) before the published Processing date.

For example: if the published processing date is January 31, 2002 then you can only call them for a referral if your RD is December 31, 2001 or before.

Looks like they put a new rule on their system.
 
Is it RD or ND?

Are these processing date correspond to RD or ND?

My RD is Jan 29th but ND is Feb 13 (2002). Since their published date is Jan 31, what does this exactly mean? Surely I have not been approved!

Frankly I do not know if there any rules. Guys c'mon BCIS is a "Mystery spot". Even they do not know what is going on? It is just a gamble and we need to keep on trying our luck to see if something clicks. I would rather not worry about the processing date but go ahead and file a query if you have been waitng for more than a year. Maybe if you are consistent in that they may respond!!!
