I have the Citizenship interview on July 3rd. Unfortunately before I got the letter I booked my flight ticket to India for July 6th. I am coming back after 3 weeks of stay.
1. If I pass the Interview will the Interviewing officer just ask me to come on some day?
2. Generally how many days after the Interview will be the Oath ceremony?
3. Can I request the officer to reschedule the Oath Ceremony date by showing my flight ticket.

Please let me know if there are any risks in my going to India soon after the Interview, like will my status change?

thanks very much

It's better to ask this question on the "timeline" thread for your particular district. The way the districts handle the interview-to-oath transistion seems to very.

In Dallas, it is not unusual for the IO to ask you which of the upcoming oath ceremonies is more convenient. If they don't do that, then it usually means that there are no open ceremonies in the near future.

I'd guess you should be safe.

Unless you are near to breaking the continuous residence or physical presence rules, a 3-week trip should not get int he way. You will need to report it at the oath ceremony (on the back of the oath letter) so make sure your passport gets stamped and keep your boarding passes.

Good luck

Agree with Flydog but there is also absolutely no harm in asking the IO once your interview is complete. Assuming you pass, as I am sure you will, the USCIS is rather more accomodating once you are at that stage. However, be aware that the oath date can be scheduled in a considerably shorter time than the IO might indicate. I suspect the estimates they give you are really the "max" to avoid disgruntled applicants. This is not the case if they are able to talk in specific dates. Mine (San Antonio) was not.
