When Can I leave my Employer

Hi,

My I-485 was filed 2 months ago and I have not yet received my receipt notice. I want to know if I can leave me employer after 4 motnhs from now( i.e after 6 months of applying I-485) or after 6 months of receipt notice.

I would really appreciate if anybody can reply on this.

Have you applied for EAD with 485? If not then apply it right away. You can leave your employer legally when you get your EAD, which usually takes 90 days. If your EAD has passed 90 days then you can go to the local INS center and they will issue you the EAD right at the spot.
