When can I apply for visa revalidation?

I think this question was brought up, but unfortunately I couldn't find the thread.

Anyways, my visa stamp expires on Dec 31, 2004. I recd my new H-1B approval from Jan 1, 2005 - Dec 31, 2007. My question is how early I can get an appointment at Mumbai consulate to get my new visa stamped from Jan 1, 2005 onwards? I heard something about 10 days i.e. I cannot get appointment before Dec 21, 2004, is that correct? And if so if there is a link can you please post.

For Stamping, it was always 10 days. Check following link under H1

"Appointment should be made ten days prior to the validity date on the I-797 or after the validity date has passed."

i think this requirement is for first time stamps not revalidations with extensions, my advice email the consulate and confirm.
