Hello,

We got the approval for our I-485 in August 2006. But we could formally apply for issue of GC only in June 2007 because our priority date had not been reached until the June 2007 bulletin. Our physical GC was received in August 2007.

When can we apply for our citizenship?

In August 2011 (or 90 days before the 5 year anniversary of approval of our GC)?

OR

In June 2012 (or 90 days before the 5 year anniversary of the application for issue of our GC)?

OR

In August 2012 (or 90 before the 5 year anniversary of the actual receipt of our GC)?

Simply 90 days prior to the 5-year anniversary of the date shown on your green card. That is the day you became a permanent resident. Approval date, receipt date or priority dates for Green card do not count.

Sounds to me like it was your I-130 or I-140 that was approved in 8/06. The date that counts is when your I-485 was finally approved, which is normally the same as the "resident since" date printed on your GC.

That does not sound right. Once your I-485 is approved, priority dates do not matter for the physical green card. And you don't apply for the physical GC (unless something went wrong and it wasn't delivered), it is automatically mailed to you.

Maybe you're thinking it was the I-130 or I-140 that was approved in August 2006. Or you got the I-485 receipt in August 2006, not the approval.
