Not sure if this is of great importance.... But, still wanted to share... In case...
I and my Wife had our FP appointment today (Feb-12-2010) at the Wheaton Maryland Application Service Center at 10:00 AM. After about a 2:00 hour drive for the (27 mile trip) from our home, we reached there around 10:35 AM.
Got our token number and were waiting for our turns. Finally, we got out FPs done by 2:00 PM.
Meanwhile, there were quite a number of applicants who showed up during the day with their appointment notice that they missed due to the snowstorm closures.
The staff asked them to come back any day next week without any rescheduling paperwork to get their FP done. Some of them got their FP appointment updated by hand by the staff to ensure they did not miss anything.
Please note that they office is closed on Monday (Feb-15-2010) due to the President's Day holiday.
If you missed your appointment during this week, please go to the center during next week and get it done. As there will be normal applicants next week, you might want to go early and get the tokens and be prepared for a longgggggg wait there.
Our original FP notices had this footnote:
"If you are unable to appear at this time, you may go on any following Wednesday at the same time noted below, as long as you appear before 05/07/2010. If you do not have your fingerprints taken by that date, your application will be considered abandoned."
Looks like they already have a buffer day built in their workflow to handle any such "Walk-in" candidates on Wednesdays.
Good luck to all,
V
