what's "visas omega"?

Hi all,

I would appreciate very much if some of you can provide with some additional info on this:

I read some old message about "visa omega" which is an alternative to the I-824 for bringing the spouse in the US.
My understanding of the message was that one can go to an US Consulate in Canada or Mexico with all proves/papers that are necessary and they will send "a wire" or so (whatever that is) to the US Consulate where the spouse is. This way, one can gain some time....

Has anyone used this approach lately, say last couple of months?

Alternative to I-824

DHS is saying that they are taking almost 11 to 12 months to process I-824 now! That defies the whole purpose of following-to-join. I am sailing in the same boat. Will be glad to know such type of alternatives.
