what's my chance of being denied?

Hi,

I am a college professor and have recently changed my status from F1 to H1 a few months ago (got my Ph.D last year). I'd like to apply for a visa stamp but I am a little concerned due to my history. I came to the U.S. in 1992 on B2 visa, and then later changed my status to F1. While I was on F1, my mom filed a green card petition for me (backlag is way too long - there are still 4 or 5 years to go at least). Now my employer is in the process of filing another green card petition for me. While I am waiting, can I safely get a visa stamp from a consulate? I am worried because F1 holders are not supposed to have dual intent, and changing from B2 to F1 is generally frowned upon (though legal at that time). When I go for the visa application, does it show that I have one (or two) green card petitions pending? And which consulate should I go? My home country, Taiwan, or Canada? I've never left the country since I came here. Thank you for your help!
