Hi, I need a quick advise-if anyone can share their opinion that would be really great.

I just recently lost my EAD card, and my current one expires in June 2008. I'm really hoping I get my gc soon...as they requested RFE and my case resumed and I was supposed to hear from them by Dec 5th, which is 2 days away!!!

Now, my question is- Should I apply for a replacement card? And I wonder how long it will take, because if it takes 3 months to come, by the time it will come, then it's going to be time again to apply for the renewal. I am planning to apply for the renewal in March (if I don't get my gc by then obviosuly-but I really hope I get it!!).

Will there be any problem if I don't apply for a replacement card? I have the front copy of the lost one but not back copy. And I know when applying for the renewal they ask for both!!

Please share your opinion as to what to do? It just so expensive now to apply for a EAD!!! I don't want to spend 340$ back to back...and then again, I don't know if I don't send them the back copy of the card during renewal process if it's going to be a big deal!!

What would you do if you were in this situation?? Please help me with your suggestions/opinions!!

OK, I don't know too much about EAD, but would assume loss of your card doesn't mean loss of your EAD benefit (but someone correct me), although you can't prove your work authorization now. Does your employer have it on file, and is there a chance they'd want to see it before June 08? Obviously you'd have a problem if you wanted to start working anywhere else.

Well, if by March 2008 you have not received your GC, then you need to file for the renewal. Did you keep the "approval notice" for the EAD? they have one stub there that will make processing faster if you mail it to USCIS.

As far as your status... I would say you are allowed to continue working, hopefully you have your SSN and everything, but you will not be able to change employers or anything, since they would need to see the card to fill out a new I-9.

My employer has the copy of the EAD, and I let the HR person know that I lost the card. But she didn't say anything about that meaning I won't be able to work or such. She is the one who gave me the front copy of the card, as I don't think I even had that!!

There will be no problem with my current work, and I don't plan to work anywhere else right now.

So, is there any reason that I should apply for the replacement card?? Please help!!!

Thanks a bunch!!!!

In that case, I would say no. But if by March you have not received your GC then, I would file for a renewal.

ps: why is your GC pending?
