What would be the RD for my I-485 application, mailed in July 2001

Hi Friends,

I have mailed my I-485 application on July 21st. I am thinking because the frontlog problem by the time they get to my mail it will sometime in September. My question is whether my RD will be for JULY or SEP.

I hope its not stupid question..

the RD will be a couple of days after you sent the application

and the question is not stupid at all, I think everyone in the same situation wondered the same.
The voice information system tells that the RD is one day before the ND (which is probably when the INS opened the mail). In my case the ND is two months later than RD. But the receipt tells that RD is three days after the package was mailed.
And 180 days is counted as calender days which means not actual number of days but same date six months later...

You will still get a receipt date very close to the date when
your application is physically received. Notice date will be
months later. Since most rules use RD as starting date, you
do not "lose" much. Don\'t worry about this.
