My main concern is, after having the H1-B stamped, when can I enter the US or when do you recommend to do so? Does the 3 years initial period start when you enter the US or when you start working?
Three years are already printed on the approval notice and when you first enter US, you will start the US entry and the clock starts to run from then.
For instance...
If you got visa stamped now and your visa is valid from Jan1 2007 to Jan1 2010. But you enter USA in June 2007. You have 6 months that you did not use. So in 2010 when you extend for another three years only. But after 2010 if you continously resided in US since June 2007, you can extend H1 for 6 more months to complete 6 years of H1 status.
Visa is only useful for you to enter and leave the US. It is the H1 status while you are in US that is valid. I hope you understand, however when you come to US you will understand more.
Thank you gc_retogress, that totally explains the H1B visa/status period difference. Now, for example, the people who get the H1B for the 2008 and on, can they enter the US before October 2007? if so, how early?
