What the INS comments mean

I recently got a fax reply from CSC with hand writing

" Your case is currently with an officer awaiting for adjudication".

What does it mean and how many steps after FP? My case keeps "975~999" since I filed 485 on March 2001, even I finished FP on April 2002.
