what should I do?

As I am going over my stuff for my interview I realised that my last bank statement for the joint bank acc for December month is in the negative.
Unfortunately I was not making any deposit lately and they kept taking their $15 in service charge.

My problem is that my interview is Tuesday and even if I rectify this problem it will not reflect on the bank statement in time for the interview. Should I try to put money and try to get my account active again or will this look suspicious to uscis?

Euly, don't stress over your bank statements, don't worry about your end balance being negative, they don't want to see how much money you got in the bank, it's only as a proof of relationship, if you have other bills/insurance/property under both your names you don't even have to give them your bank statement. I'm pretty sure your income taxes will be of great importance too, just relax. I hope your interview goes as smoothly as mine, except with the name check pending:(, I really don't want you to get stuck like me.:D Good Luck

Take it easy, the bank statement just shows that you are married "for better or for worse". The better happens, and bank overdrafts happen too :( And it it is the worst tht happens, there is not much to worry about. :)

The joint statement is not to show that you can maintain a positive balance at all times but rather that the spouses are sharing finances.

Thanks so much, I was so stress about it.

Would it make a difference that my I 130 was approved (back in November) so they may not worry about the employment letter issue too much. I am still giving them the information so that they can verify the info but I was just thinking that thei 130 deals more with whether the petitioner could adequately sponsor you. What do you think?

Wouldn't NOT having money in the bank... make the IO suspicious that the I-864 sponsor can not really support his/her spouse?

Firstly, my 1 130 is already approved and my husband has more than enough money in other account. It is just this joint account and the reason is that he thinks the service charge is more than the other and we are about to close this one and I will be joint to others. The problem is that I will not have this done by the time of the interview. Dont get it twisted because I am not working and he has been supporting me and putting money in the accounts.

Basically, I will really be interviewed to determine the legitimacy of the marriage. All other issues were approved in November. I sent my 130 long before my 1485.

Just a little nervous!;)

If you are nervous, then you might give USCIS a reason to doubt the "truthiness" of your marriage... Just relax and enjoy the experience, remember that "I don't know" is still an acceptable answer rather than pulling stuff out of a thin gas....

I wish you all the best and your negative bank balance is a sign of many young couples, who juggles too many nuts and bolts of young marriages. It is not the worst thing, I can assure so much...:)

Remember to dress nice, be audible and honest in your responses. No need to make jokes with the Officer, because some of them abhor immigrants in anyway, and any attempt to polish their asses is shunned upon...;)

Yesterday I had an interview, and the statements for the joint account are on negative most of the time. Inthat account is where my wife (petitioner) deposit her income. However, that account is more for her stuff and when we go out. The rest, such as rent, insurance, food, etc, I take care of it from my account. I took my bank statements yesterday, just in case the office wanted to vefify from where we pay the rent and the house expenses. She did not ask for it.
SO dont worry. that's not a big deal. You'll be fine!

Thank you so much.::):) The good thing is that I have one thing out of the way which is the approval of the I 130. I just need to prove my marriage part because my husband other accounts showed that he could sponsor me or else my I 130 would not have been approved.

I keep forgetting that most people filled concurrently but half of my issues have been dealt with.:)

By the way, the interview I went yesterday was for the I-130. I still have to get approve by the court the I-485.
