I have a friend who's out of status from his F-1 visa and EAD for about 3 years, he is now self-employed though he's not paying an income tax. He wants to stay in the USA. He wants to talk to a lawyer about asylum or other alternatives but thought it would better to wait until the government pass the immigration bill since lawyer fees will be expensive. Should he really wait? I assume he thinks the situation will get better because a forgiving immigration bill will be passed.
