From another thread - splitting to not let the other thread be hijacked.

They are going back in time to challenge the validity of the GC itself. Either the IO is an idiot, or they saw something that smells like a fake marriage.

Jackolantern,

Indeed! They seem to be questioning the GC itself. Which is really weird, I mean they ought to have verified BEFORE giving the GC.

In anycase - question - how do you prove you got the GC by valid means. My question is specific to
if a person got a GC by Family Second preference 2A - unmarried minor child of a parent who applied for I-485 on employment basis.

(2A refers to: unmarried children under 21 of green-card holders...http://www.immigralaw.com/english/greencardfamily.html)

I believe showing that you were not married at time of getting your Adj of status is important, and also showing you were under 21 is important. I dont think you need papers to prove parent got I-485 on valid basis? do you!?, then it goes on and on to never ending checklist.

They should have, but sometimes they didn't check everything well before the GC was approved, so they might review the circumstances surrounding your GC approval because it's their last chance to deport you without a complex court battle.

One possibility is that there might be nothing wrong with your case per se, but suppose your GC was approved by an IO who was since fired for accepting bribes or other wrongdoings. People who apply for naturalization would get flagged for deeper review if their GC was approved by the scumbag.
