Hello Helper
I have no idea how this GC process works from the day one. Please donot refer me to go to FAQs as they suck. There is NO information that talks about step by step process involved in getting one.
For ex:
a. I140
b. I485
c. what?
d. what?
e. what?
There is no such thing.
Sorry about my frautration.
Here is the deal. I'm now at I485 (Date Oct 8th 03) will be getting AP(Advance Parol) and EAD by DEC end. This is what have been told by my attonery. What is next? what is after EAD or I485? I have no phreaking clue. How long next process? Where do I see the status. FYI: I'm in EST ZONE (Vermount office I think)
Please someone enlighten me.
Thanks
Kris

krishna001,

Instead of getting frustated, you need to do some good old style research to understand the basic steps. I will help u get started:

1. 485 is application to adjust permanent status, that is to get you the GC. This is the last stage, but is currently taking loooooooonng time (2 yrs approx). So, welcome to the wait-wait club, we hope u would like our company here ;)

2. EAD is employment authorization document. U can use that to work if you are not interested in extending ur H1 or want to do a part time job along with ur main job. If u use EAD, ur H would not be valid anymore and u would use the AP to travel back to US, in case u travel out of US.

3. U can check the statuses of ur 485/EAD/AP using the tracking case number (starts with three letters like WAC or LIN - on left corner of your receipt notice u/lawyer got from BCIS) at the following website: https://egov.immigration.gov/graphics/cris/jsps/caseStat.jsp;jsessionid=bHHiPrv0gNrg

For understanding the process, review the following source:

goodluck and gear up ur patience - u would need a lot of it in the coming times :D
