Hi, I want to find out
1) what kind of tax records are needed for n400 filing, and how closely are they scrutinized?
2) Since I got my GC in may2001, I still have to wait 3 years to file N400. Is there any faster way to get citizenship? my employer can help any way I want. thanks

do u have every return u filed for the last 5 years ? If not call the IRS and get a tax return transcript (instructions available on this forum)

If you got your GC thru employment you have to wait 4 years + 9 months (90 days before 5 years) to file. Noone can help you file faster. If you got it thru marriage to a USC then you can file 2 yrs + 9 months....

I do have all 1040 copies....

I do have all records, but do they look at the tax returns as closely as the IRS would?, meaning how many exemptions I filed, and what I claimed as deductions etc.

dont worry, they are not out to question u for any deduction u applied.. they want to ensure u paid what u owed and that u maintained residence in the US and that basically you fillfilled
ur most important duty as a resident - paying your taxes!!..

Make sure you have ur copies, dont leave the country unless absolutely necessary for over 6 months at a time, and apply 90 days before ur 5 year anniv as a GC holder

all the best

Do you have to add copies of tax returns with n-400?
I don't see where it is mentioned.
Or do you mean carrying tax return copies to the interview?

Just wondering....
