Can some body explain what is this MSC/NBC. Are all family based applications through out US forwarded to this center. I applied at my local office in Arlington, VA, but they have been forwarded to Missouri. And my receipt number starts MSC....

Thank You!

'National Benefits Center'. Physically located in Chicago, it will move to Missouri at some point in time.
Another ill-conceived centralization idea.
Family based applications including the respective EAD/AP's submitted to the local offices are forwarded to MSC where they do things like FP scheduling, background checks and other 'back-office' type work. Once they are done, the files are sent back to the local office for interview.

(At times, the regional processing centers will forward employment based cases to the local office for interview. Applicants who submit their EAD extensions to the local office after the transfer also get MSC receipts for it. The idea is that the local offices entirely concentrate on interviews and 'front office' type work.)

Processing dates!

But for processing dates online for EAD/AP, which dates should I go with, the local office dates or NBC dates.

I believe that if you filed everything with the local office and it got transferred that the NBC dates rule.
(my wife filed an employment based EAD with a local office. It came through at MSC within 6 weeks, a lot faster than the published 6 months.)

Which Local office did your wife apply?
But I read some postings in this forum, most of them who applied at MSC/NBC, they got EAD's at different times varying from 2 months to 6 months.
It is so confusing, does any body know why the difference in timelines in getting EAD's from the same service center?

Thank you for your prompt replies!
