Ofcourse it varies from state to state. Mine in TX it cost me $2000. But it sure was worth spending.

Try to search for some charitable programs if you don't have money to pay for a lawer. I know one guy who didn't spend a single penny for his asylum. He got a charitable lawer in Washington D.C.
