I am thinking of visiting Mexico and I would like to know what is the best way to travel around the country. I have heard that Mexico has a lot of beautiful and diverse places to see, such as beaches, mountains, jungles, deserts, cities, and historical sites. I want to explore as much as possible, but I also want to be safe and comfortable.

I have some questions for you:

  • What are the best modes of transportation in Mexico? Is it easy to rent a car, take a bus, or use a train? How reliable and affordable are they?
  • What are the best routes or itineraries to follow? How long should I stay in each place? Are there any places that I should avoid or be careful of?
  • What are the best options for accommodation? Should I book hotels, hostels, or Airbnb? How can I find good deals and reviews?
  • What are the best ways to experience the local culture and cuisine? Should I join a tour guide or a private tour? How can I find reputable and trustworthy guides or tours?
  • What are the best tips or advice that you can give me for traveling in Mexico? What are the dos and don’ts? What are the common scams or dangers that I should be aware of?

Hi contrite, I will try to answer some of your questions based on my last visit there.

The best mode of transportation in Mexico depend on where you want to go. Flying is the fasted and most convenient option. If you are looking for an affordable way to get around, buses are there. You can also rent a car there.

For the no of days, a good thumb rule is to spend at least 3 days in each place to fully enjoy it. Mexico has something for everyone, from ancient ruins to colonial cities to tropical beaches and natural wonders. Mexico City, Oaxaxa, Teotihucan, Chihen Itza, Cancun, Tulum are such places. My personal favourite place was Cancun becuase of its stunning beaches. Btw you should check the travel advisories from you government

The best options for accommodation depend on your budget and comfort. You can find wide range of hotels and hostels and airbnb in Mexico. You can use online platforms like booking.com to check prices.

For transportation, flying is the fastest and most convenient option, but also the most expensive. You can find domestic flights to most major destinations. However, you may need to book in advance to get a cheaper price.

Buses are the most popular and affordable option for travelling in Mexico. They are comfortable, reliable and frequent.

For places to visit, a first timer in Mexico I would recommend Mexico City and Cancun. Mexico City is the Capital city and it has countless attractions such as museums, monuments, parks, markets, restaurants. You can visit nearby archaelogical sites, such as Isla Mujeres or Cozumel. Cancun is famous for it's stunning beaches which offer vies of white sand, torquoise water. You can also enjoy water sports, snorkeling, diving, or visiting the nearby islands, such as Isla Mujeres or Cozumel. You can also explore the Mayan ruins of Tulum or Chichen Itza, or the natural wonders of the World or the biosphere reserve of Sian Ka’an

Your suggestions sound great. I think I will try both flying and taking buses, depending on the distance and availability. I have heard good things about the Mexican bus system, so I am looking forward to experiencing it.

Mexico City and Cancun are definitely on my list. I am interested in both the cultural and natural aspects of Mexico, so I think these places will offer a lot of variety and excitement. I especially want to see the Mayan ruins and the biosphere reserve. They sound amazing.
