What is procedure after passport stamping?

For adjustment of status, after I-485 passport stamping I understand that you wait for the plastic card to be mailed to you. Is this another application that you have to file (or your attorney files) or is the plastic card sent automatically after passport stamping? The reason I ask is that I will probably change addresses after passport stamping. If the plastic card is a separate application, I can just put the new address on the plastic card application. If the card is processed automatically, I will probably stay at the same address.

At the passport stamping, you will be asked to sign and finger
print an I-89 form which will be used for plastic card processing.
You can change address on the spot. In fact, the IIOs who process
passport stamping often ask and check the correctness of the
address.
