What is "Name Check"?

I know what is FP and that your case will not proceed if your finger prints have expired.

Now, what is "Name Check". How does it affect processing? When does it take place? I have replied to an RFE. Is it relevant for me at this stage?

Security Checks

"Name check" refers to different security checks initiated by the USCIS;

1: IBIS (instituted in 2002) is done by the USCIS. Validity is 35 days or as rumored maybe 90 days. repeated at unknown intervals throughout. Use of Biographical form G-325A
2: FBI name check; requested by the USCIS to the FBI. Use of Biographical form G-325A. Validity period unknown. Repetition: Maybe just once.
3: CIA name check; requested by USCIS to the CIA. Validity period unknown. Repetition: Maybe more than once.
