what is my status? Pls. help, thanks

Please forgive me if this is not a right place to ask the following question - I really can not find where I should post them.


After I lost my job last March, I immediately filed my H4 since my spouse was holding a valid H1b status. Then we filed our concurrent filings of I140 and I485 later. At the same time, i applied EAD and AP, and got all of them soon. Later, my spouse's I140 was approved and I485 was pending. Now, I am using my EAD to work on a full time basis. Below are my questions:

1. What is my current status? Do I still have H4? If yes, do I need to renewal if my spouse renewal her H1B?

2. Can I use AP to travel abroad and safely return? If yes, what is my status after I return???

3. Can I quit my current full time job, or change to another company? If yes, what is my status after change? That is, if I quit my job now, what my status is going to be?

Your current status is adjustee. You are not on H4 any longer.

Yes, AP is for that very purpose. Your status remains adjustee.

3. Can I quit my current full time job, or change to another company? If yes, what is my status after change? That is, if I quit my job now, what my status is going to be?
Yes, you can quit your job and seek a new one. You remain an adjustee. When you begin working your new job you should identify your status as " Alien authorized to work until--(EAD expiration date)" This is required on form I-9, the employment authorization verification form that you will be required to fill out at the new job.
