What is my priority date?

I have been hanging around this board for quite a while, but am still confused over a couple of things.

1. My LC's priority date is 2002/8, and my I485 Notice Date is 2006/4, which one is my priority date for I-485?

2. TSC's processing time for I-485 is Jan, 2006. What does it mean? My guess is that they are currently processing the applications that submitted before Jan, 2006. Is this correct?

I will appreciate it if you could clarify my confusions. Thanks.

1. Your priority date is your LC application date. 8/2002 in your case.

2. yes, you're right. TSC is processing 485 applications received before 1/6/2006. But for them to approve the 485, your priority date (8/2002 in your case) must be current for the category under which you applied.

Thank you Nick for your quick response, which has cleared some of my questions. But I still got another. Since I am under EB2 China Catogary and according to the VB the cutoff date is April, 2005, does it mean in theory my application should be being processed? Thanks.

BTW, I can see from your sig that our dates are pretty close, good luck to both of us.

Yes, in theory, your application can be adjudicated since your priority date is current, provided the FBI name check is complete. There is no way to know if the name check has been completed other than to call USCIS.

FBI name check can take anywhere between 2 days to 2 years. On average it is taking 2 - 3 months, based on information from other forum postings.

Wish you Good luck!
