I9 is a form that you have to fill in in your HR dept. They will provide that. Infact you should have filled one when you joined on H1 on the first day. You just have to fill in this form with EAD Details. If you have H1B still remaining, you can continue to work with H1 even if you have received EAD. EAD becomes effective the day you go and declare that you are working on EAD and not on H1B. One important point to note here is that once you change to EAD you loose your H1 status that you were working on previously. This means if you have dependents they should have applied for 485 and got the advance parole if they want to reenter US. or if you are planing to get your spouse on H4 you need to have H1B available. So make sure you are coved from all these before you change over to EAD.
