What if I get the FP notice when in INDIA for a month?

Hello Friends,

I am little bit confused as I am reading the messages regarding FP and Biometrics. I noticed some people got FP notice and after few months they also got Biometrics Notices ( code 1/2/3). I had the impression, those who have their I-485 pending will only get FP/Biometrics notices. (FP and Biometrics are same).

Am I doing any mistake here? I have a pending I-485 pending with PD 03/2004 ( I-140 approved august, 2005, NIW). So, what should I expect?

I485 received date 10/04/2005. I am planning to travel to INDIA. But, I am wondering what happens if I get the FP notice when I am in INDIA. .

That's why I am not able to plan ahead. I called NSC: One representative told me it might take 6 months to get the notice or more.

If you get the FP notice, you can complete the FP up to 60 days following the appointment date, so you would have time if you are gone 1 month. However, that delays your processing though, Also, the USCIS rep. telling you that it might take 6+ months to get the FP notice, that may or may not be true. I got my FP notice within 3 weeks of filing the I-485, while I have read that other people waited for a year for the FP notice. I guess it may depend if you are stuck in retrogression or not and the PD you have. Last, FP and biometrics are not the same. Usually, you get FP notice first to clear you through the FBI FP system and you receive the biometrics notice later to use for the actual plastic green card printing.

I have recieved Biometrics letter in 2 weeks, scheduling appointment for today. It is clearly stated, that if you cannot attend you should reschedule. If you do not attend and do not reschedule, you application is considered abondoned.
I would ask somebody in your household to reschedule it or let you know so you could reschedule it.
Just my 2 cents
