I am working on H1 and my EAD is expiring soon.
What if I don't renew it? or renew it after expiration?
Would it cause any problems in my 485 approval?

It shouldn't affect your I-485, but renewing EAD might still be a safer idea especially if one loses job due to bad economy, he/she can find another job and can work on EAD.
If you have a valid H1 and if your current I9 form indicates you are working on H1B with your current employer, you are safe. You don't have to renew the EAD. But as always for being on the safe side, I would recommend renewing EAD. Its only $120.
