What happens if you send wrong filing fee with EAD application?

I mailed a check of $175 along with my EAD (renewal) application, thinking that the proposal to hike fees by $55 is already in effect.
It should have been a check of $120.
Bummer!

Any ideas what will happen with my EAD application?

Only 2 things can happen:-

1. You will get refund in form of a Money Order( Canadian consulate once did this to afriend of mine).
2. They will RFE you to send another check of $120 and they will return $175 check to you.

They will approve your EAD in few days as you are paying them extra bugs.

You can speak with CSE on BCIS toll free number. And can take some corrective action.
