What happens if you\'re laid off before I485 has been pending for 180 days?

According to Fragomen - "If your adjustment application (I-485) has been filed, but has not been pending for 180 days, you may continue the adjustment process with the new employer if the new employer simultaneously files a new RIR and immigrant visa petition on your behalf prior to the adjustment application being adjudicated."

Has anyone had similar experiences? What do you do if you cannot find a new employer who\'s willing to sponsor your green card? Can anyone recommend lawyers in the bay area who have experience with these types of cases?
