getting approval of i-130 is step one for many. then they have to see if their dates are current and if there is a visa for them and all. some could put an i-485 rigth away and others may have to wait over a decade.

so let's say a person gets i-130 approval and sends in an i-485 w/o being current? what will immmigration do? see, have a friend that i suspect did this. i hope not. she had biometrics done and as far as i know, no rfps. and she even had an interview. that is another thread on another day.

could immigration go as far as doing biometrics and scheduling interviews if the dates weren't current?

Can the USCIS be this cluleless? Hmm at first I'd think no, but then again, it is a federal bureaucracy, so you never do know.

I would guess that somewhere along the way there has to be a check whether or not one is current.
