What happened to longGC's case

Hi LongGC,

Your case seems to be the oldest. Have you called for any congressman or senator enquiry. Did you file any enquiry on NCSC. Did you get any response. No offence - seems like TSC has already started processing 2002 cases. Are there any other old timers left.

LongGC inititated NCSC inquiry in March 2004, after the processing date passed 30 days beyond May 25, 2001. Contacted Senator/Congressman. I was told that the file is with Adjudicating Officer. Later, received a letter from TSC confirming the same.

Now it has been three weeks since the file is with officer. I think, officer takes file FIFO and my file is in queue. How long would it take him to get to my file?
 
Now if you open an account on BCIS web site you can when your case was touched last time. LongGC you can check that at least you will come to whether they are truth or not.

I did check. There is no difference. The file is on officer's desk but the system has not been updated.

Not quite.

You may receive an email notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your case.

You may receive an email if your case is processed, or you may not. Do not worry if you do not receive an update until your case is approved.

I have received four email updates after my EAD approval but the status has changed only once. To others, the word touch implies physical contact with the case, but you cannot know if the case has been processed by an officer or a computer.

Accuracy counts. Please be precise with your advice.

There is hope, and then there is false hope.

My EAD was approved last week. Yesterday I got four identical email updates, with no change in status. I like to think that my EAD is that important, but chances are an officer is not fondling my documents.

The email updates are not a log of actual work. They are only a convenience so you do not have to repeatedly hit the case status Web site. You can get an email update without actual work being done on your case. You can also get only one email update on approval, while actual work was done on your case all along.

We so badly want permanent residence in this country; we might as well use the language properly. In that language, the words process and touch have entirely different implications. One gives hope, and the other false hope.

We do not want people to falsely hope actual work is being done on their case just because they got an email update. With the immigration service, there is little consistency and no guarantee.
